How can I make this work?
It’s not that you are living a bad life. It’s not that you feel exhausted all the time. It’s not even that you do not like your work, well except for those certain aspects, but other than that you are fine.
Overall you are quite content. It’s just…
Well.. it could be better
It could be less work and more play. It could be less stress and more joy. But you’re not looking to turn your complete life around, as you know you do not need that. You do not want that. You’ve got enough going on as is. You just want to be able to cope better. To feel better. Not just on and off but like continuously throughout the day, that is what you are looking for.
But the thing is.. you don’t have time
That is the whole entire problem. You seriously do not have enough time. There is always so much to do, at work. Then you come home, and your brain just doesn’t allow you to switch off. As you’re back at the computer again after dinner, it will not really switch off either. But you know should you not look at some of the things in the evenings, you will not be able to get through everything during the day.
It’s frustrating, really it is
As deep down you do know, a different approach would help you. Would make you feel more relaxed. Would allow you to enjoy your work more and will let you even perform better. Getting results from a tranquil mind instead of a worried mind. It makes a difference, you know you could be better. Live better.
Be the CEO of your life
That is the answer for you. It is shaping your work and your work environment to tailor your needs. No big major turnarounds, just subtle tweaks to make it work. Make it work better. For you. And once all that is in place, you can start working on more headspace. Being able to switch off. Going home on time, and actually being able to enjoy it.
Work is just the starting point
You know you need to start there. That is what is really bugging you now, keeping you up some nights or at least making you needlessly worried. If only you could switch off your thoughts.
The reason why you want to switch off
Is obvious of course. It is because you want to, you need to and you have to. You want to feel alive again. Enjoy your life more often. Not just during the weekend bashes. But having a bit more time with the people you love and you actually like, would be a good starting point. And yes, I know.. you’re also acting for some time just for you. To do what you like. But you are not there yet, that may seem too far fetched now. Or doesn’t it?
So how to go about it?
